“Manila” takes us back to the year 1821. The Philippine islands are under Spanish colonial rule. However, in the shadow of Iberian economic power the black market businesses of the local merchants with the traders of the neighbouring islands are booming. Again and again, barges well camouflaged by night and fog are on their way to "Manila", laden brimful with precious treasures.
"Manila" is a speculative contest where the players have to estimate the prospects of success of the different goods cargoes on the high seas. Players also give fate a helping hand to their own advantage. Disagreeable goods are rejected, pirates hired and pilots bribed. This is done with the purpose of driving the share values of their own goods up so as to actually profit from shipwrecks and plundering.
"Manila" is thrilling amusement for all who like to make their own good fortune and wherever possible have a finger in the pie!
