Two games by the Munich game publisher Zoch are on the latest recommendation list published by the “Jury Spiel des Jahres“: “Tobago“ an exciting treasure hunt for 2 to 4 players 10 years and up is on the list of family games. “Mausgeflippt“ a fast-paced card game for 2 to 6 players of 6 and up is on the list of children’s games.
TOGABO
The intoxicating adventure game "Tibago" hisks you away to the Caribbean, to the island of forgotten treasures, which are waiting to be discovered. Torn fragments of a treasure map should help you in your search – a complex undertaking. To find and raise a treasure the players rely on their all-terrain vehicles to cross dense jungle, scale rocky heights and ford raging torrents. Once the treasure has been found it is distributed between the player who found the treasure and players who provided valuable clues about the treasure site helping to narrow down the search. Amulets protect players against imponderables like the curse of the island, which is hidden in some treasure chests. The player with the most gold coins at the end wins the game.
The game board is a novelty: A wide range of game board options ensures that no two games are alike. The board is divided into three sections with different fronts and backs and these can be shifted one field and held together using three connectors, creating a total of 32 different island scenarios.
“Tobago“ by Bruce Allen for two to four players ages 10 and up is an original treasure hunt with attractive playing material and the atmospheric graphics common to all games by Zoch. Exciting moves and a sophisticated mechanism for distributing the treasure are simply waiting to be discovered.
MAUSGEFLIPPT
The mouse is stepping out – the latest collection of Karl Katerfell and Tommy Hilkatzer is being presented on the catwalk. Everyone wants to have it, but not everyone is going to get it. Things are turbulent in “Mausgeflippt“ the fast-paced card game by Zoch. As clever cats the players try to catch the fashionable mice. They only succeed if they have pieces of clothing or accessories on hand that match what the snazzy mice are wearing. If a mouse is wearing a red blazer, the card with the identical piece of clothing must be quickly played. The same goes for a green belt or blue shoes. Whoever doesn’t have the matching wardrobe on hand calls “mausgeflippt“ and throws all seven cards on top of the mouse. Only the player who reacts correctly can catch the snazzy mouse. But watch out. Pieces of cheese protect the grey models against attacks. Any cat who can’t keep its paws off them collects minus points. The winner is the player who has collected the most points at the end of the game.
“Mausgeflippt“ by Chislaine van den Bulk is a fast card game in which the subtle differences count – ideal for families with children from age 6 and up. It schools and trains quick reactions. Rules are short and easy to understand. Price approx. 8 euros. Info: www.zoch-verlag.com.
