Two gaming mechanisms: memorizing and puzzling

“Zozzle“ – a fascinating alliance of memory game and puzzle

February 9, 2010

We present a new series: “Zozzle“ – a fascinating alliance of memory game and puzzle. “Heckmeck am Bratwurmeck“ which has become a cult game has been expanded. The expansions include “Heckmeck Junior“ for young kids of five and up and “Heckmeck Barbecue“ which brings dicing fun to the game board. “Flinke Stinker“ carries young players of six and up away to the weird world of skunks. A special feature of this race is its original memorizing mechanism.

“Zozzle“ is new and different: The Munich Zoch Publisher has developed an entirely new game genre with the two gaming mechanisms memorizing and puzzling. A small box contains an unusual combination of individual cards, which are all part of a whole according to the principle of pairs – but you have to use your memory to assemble the puzzle.

Find pairs. Assemble an animal picture. Done! For the kickoff of this new type of game four titles are being published which sound as amusing as the animals concerned: "Knuddelknurr“, "Flippoflip“, "Hottehueh“ and "Wuffiwau“. Or in other words polar bears, dolphins, horses and dogs. When "zozzling", free after the title of the series, the players compete to remember and select the cards they need to complete their animal picture from the 45 cards placed face down on the table. The player whose turn it is flips two cards over. If they are the same he can keep one. If they are different it's the next player’s turn. The winner is the first to have a completed picture of all nine pieces in front of them.

“Zozzle“ is the first game of Elena Fyrogeni. It calls for a good memory and a quick grasp. Getting started is easy – the entire rules of the game are described in only five sentences. The game for two to four players of six years and up takes 15 to 20 minutes and costs approx. EUR 5.

Heckmeck Barbecue
The barbecue season for worm gourmets is now open

For fans of “Heckmeck am Bratwurmeck“ the cult dice game is now available as a board game. “Heckmeck Barbecue“ is as exciting as it is different. Packed in a dice box the game board also serves as a card

board insert to store the attractive playing materials in: cute spiral sausages now join the barbecue worms. Setting plates mark the diced num-bered barbecuing areas (23 to 36) of the players on the game board. A turbulent dice contest is about to start. Two to five players of eight years and up try to snatch as many barbecue worms and spiral sausages as possible. Anyone who is unable to get any worms from the “grill“ can also help themselves to the stores of their fellow players. The winner is the player with the most valuable barbecue worms and spiral sausages at the end of the barbecue party.

“Heckmeck Barbecue“ the new line extension from star author Reiner Knizia also promises pure gambling fun and communicative rounds, no matter what language is spoken. Priced at about EUR 20, this is an attractive and richly equipped game with eight dice, 30 barbecue worms, twelve spiral sausages and 50 plates – all of wood.

Heckmeck Junior
A dice contest suitable for young kids

“Heckmeck Junior“ is the latest addition to the “ZickeZacke“ series in the games segment of Zoch publishing house, Munich. “Heckmeck am Bratwurmeck“ by Reiner Knizia, which has become a cult game, has been translated into a form suitable for young kids. The result is a cheeky dice game for kids aged 5 and up with playing material custom-ized to the needs of young up-and-coming gourmets.

Scene of this dice game is the new Heckmeck stand of rooster Harald.  Here there are all sorts of treats to make the kids’ mouths water. But you need to throw the dice cleverly to get the colorful burgers.

In the version for young kids it is also a matter of snatching as many portions of barbecue worms as possible. However there are only twelve portions here and instead of numbers there are other treats on the dice: bread rolls (twice), worm, ketchup, cheese and pickled cucumber. Burger garnishes of the same kind can be snatched as long as they are different from what is there already. If there is nothing left to snatch from the “grill“ players can also take things from friends’ plates. The winner is the player with the most worms at the end.

“Heckmeck Junior“ the fast paced dice game by Reiner Knizia is a  charming and absolutely age-appropriate children’s game. The playing material is pleasant to the touch. In stores from end of February for EUR 8.90.

Flinke Stinker – a cheeky race
When skunks are running hold your nose and go

Hold your nose and go. When swift skunks are running laps, watch out. In nature the conspicuous marking of their fur indicates that they can spray a stinky and dangerous liquid for several meters. This is how they protect themselves against other animals. In this game however the skunks have to beware of their greatest enemy the puma, who loves to lie in wait for them.

”Flinke Stinker“ is the new children’s game by Inon Kohn of the Zoch publishing house, Munich. Five swift, prettily colored skunks run the amusing race – a good memory helps. Players who are able to memorize the hidden tiles well know where the pumas are hidden between the skunk tracks and make good time in trailing their fellow creatures. Now and then in the scramble sprayed scent marks throw the comrades-in-arms back a few fields. And spots that already stink have to be by-passed. If the puma emerges between the tiles the skunk freezes in shock and his turn is over. The winner is the skunk who reaches the end ahead of the others.

The race for kids 5 years and up with a good memory, charmingly designed by Doris Matthäus, is cheekily witty and its pretty colorfully striped skunks are very striking. The game costs about EUR 20 in stores.
