Didi Dotter: Things move quickly with plenty of action
New games in October 2007
22.10.2007
New games for the entire family, up from 5,6,8 and 12 years.
BAUSACK
Klaus Zoch introduced the “Bausack“ to the market 20 years ago. Its numerous building blocks belong in every architect’s office and in the hands of every construction enthusiast, young or old. It was on the “selection list for Game of the Year“ in 1988 and was recommended as a “Good Toy“. Although the more than 65 partly bizarre but always attractively shaped building blocks, some of which are new, are still in a linen bag, this now comes in an elegant games box. “Bausack“ by Klaus Zoch, 2 to 6 players, 8 years and up, price about EUR 39.50.
The “Bausack“ was also the starting signal for the formation of the Munich game publishing house Zoch. At the time CEO Albrecht Werstein saw a lot of building blocks at the author’s home. “More of those must be produced“, he thought to himself, and over dinner the two school friends founded their publishing house, which is also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
DIDI DOTTER
My egg, your egg and egg yolk – in “Didi Dotter“ everything revolves around the soft centre of the egg. Things move quickly with plenty of action. 24 egg halves are placed face down in the centre of the table. Whoever finds the matching other half of their egg can place the complete egg in their egg carton. This calls for quick decisions, because you can also collect your opponent’s eggs. Good reactions and ability to concentrate are called for if you are to win the search with a well-filled egg carton. The loving illustrations by Doris Matthäus and the unusual and functional game materials make this egg hunt an exciting and fun game for young and old birds of prey. “Didi Dotter“ by Ariel Laden, 2 to 4 players, 5 years and up, price about EUR 32.50.
ALLES TOMATE
From cow to potato: nothing stays where it was – the things you are looking for are constantly moving. “Alles Tomate!“ is set in a farmyard, but the pace is far from leisurely here. You have to remember lots of things: fruit, vegetables, animals, tools, buildings and a lot more. Whoever knows what is where and quickly names the item being searched for, has a good chance of increasing their yard cards. The turbulent memory card game will be popular with anyone with a good short-term memory. An amusing cover design and simple rules make this an ideal game to take along to any party. “Alles Tomate!“ by Reiner Knizia, 2 to 8 players, 6 years and up, price about EUR 7.50.
ALTAMIRA
Make weapons, hunt and capture – a trip into the stone age: “Altamira“ is set in 7850 BC. Archaic big game hunts for sabre-toothed tigers and bears in caves determine this atmospheric game, which is well-equipped with shaggy hunters, area tiles, insignias, weapon cards and prey cards. Tactical thinking is called for at every turn. In order to capture prey the right weapon must first be made. Correct assessment is called for as a hunt can also quickly come to an unsuccessful conclusion if the other hordes suddenly join in the hunt. “Altamira“ by Peter-Paul Joopen, 3 to 5 players, 12 years and up, price about EUR 30.
ZICKE & ZACKE
Snuggle up with the two hens Zicke and Zacke which will be available in plush from October (Sigikid). The cuddly toys look at the world with cheeky eyes from under thick feather coats. They are the signature feature of the Munich publishing house and will in future lend the trademark “ZickeZacke“ its character. They will be available in three sizes: really big (30 cm) to cuddle and take to bed, a medium size (14 cm) and small (10 cm) to hang on schoolbags or rucksacks. Price about: EUR 22, EUR 13.90 and EUR 8.
