Fraser & Gordon Lamont

Fraser & Gordon Lamont

Fraser: I work as a Forest Ranger for a charitable organisation part time.  The rest of the week is spent on design and keeping Fragor Games running.
Gordon and I have played games together since I can remember. I had been out of the country for around 5 years, and when I came back, we decided the time was right to release our first game, Leapfrog.  The response was very positive, and we've been releasing a game a year (through Fragor Games) ever since.

Hobbies:

Fraser: Being a ranger, I love the outdoors, walking, etc. I also have an unhealthy love of video games.  You can't open a cupboard without a different console falling out.

Games we would take with us to a remote island:

This is such a difficult question as it would depend on number of players, type of players, age of players, and so on.  I would try and take a mixture to try and cover different situations.
In no particular order:

1)Queens Gambit - I just love the feel of this one, and it satisfies the piece junky in me.
2)Lord of the Rings - The cooperative nature of the game would help bond the islands inhabitants.
3)Turf Master - It's hard to beat this one with a full compliment of players.
4)Agricola - It's new, shiny and great (although the sheep pieces need some work!).
5)Bausack - Every group needs a party game.  We might also be able to make a raft out of the pieces!

How do we get our best ideas?

Fraser: Hmmm...it varies.  Most of our best ideas are when Gordon and I are together and bouncing ideas back and forth.  Ideas for the initial game theme usually come from something around us, like watching a flock of sheep, or seeing a documentary on stags.

We like playing games because:

Fraser: My brother is 7 years older and forced me to play them as soon as I could hold the pieces  ;)

This was our first game:

Fraser: The one that is most memorable is "Buccaneer".  I would have been about 4 or 5 when Gordon taught me it.  I went round merrily filling my boat up with jewels and gold.  At the same time, my brother would travel to the different harbours collecting pirates.  My boat would never make it home, and the board would never finish without being upturned.
