Peter-Paul Joopen

I was born on June 1st, 1958.

I have played since my early childhood. First, I played classic games with my family and later my friends and I played the games that were nominated for "Spiel des Jahres".

1977 till 1979: military service.

Afterwards I started and finished my studies as an engineer for electro-technics.

Ca. 1990, while searching for a board game that wasn't sold anymore I met Ulrike and Rainer Schiefer who have a collection of a couple of thousand games. From then on I changed into a frequent gamer and first considered to develop own games. It still took five years from the initial idea to my first published game in 1997.

Hobbies:

With my job, my house and my three children there is not much time left for many hobbies.

I still frequently play games and think up new ones.

Furthermore, I enjoy writing children stories and poems.

Drawing is one of my seldom hobbies.

Games I would take with me to a remote island:

"Rushhour",
"Stratego",
"Bohnanza",
"Tichu"

How do I get the best ideas for my games:

I don't have a certain system how or where I get the best ideas for my games and children books.

The ideas just appear somehow sometimes. Whenever I am aware of them I try to hold them.

I like playing because:

... it's fun!

My first game:

In 1997 "Willi Wichtel - Abenteuer im Zauberwald" was published.
