Bill Payne

I studied sociology at UWO in London, Ontario Canada.  I am also the coordinator of a soup kitchen that serves about 250 meals per day to the most vulnerable in our city.

I first thought of inventing games when I was about 12 years old or so. The Canadian game Trivial Pursuit came out in the early 1980's and I thought how cool is that inventing your own game.  I didn't give too much thought until I was done university.

Hobbies:

I enjoy golf, soccer, basketball, and of course hockey.  Go Canada Go.  The same can't be said for our soccer or football team.

Games I would take with me to a remote island:

If I was alone on a remote island I would bring a deck of cards and play solitaire.  If I was with others I would bring, "Trivial Pursuit", checkers (as I could use the discs to invent new items) a deck of cards, "Jaws" and of course "Villa Paletti".

How I get my best ideas for games:

My best ideas come from sitting with a clipboard and pencil.  I simply observe and write down whatever comes into my head.  It is so amazing what comes out.  My latest item "Polly the Porcupine" shows that.

I like playing because:

I play games because I love the social interaction you get with a board game.  Video games, while they can be good, they can also be very isolating.

Das war mein erstes Spiel:

My first game invented, but not sold was an I spy game.  My first game sold is called "Naughty Dogs".
