Oliver Richtberg
Born as belated Christ Child on December 27th, 1968.
Studies and diploma in mineralogy; studies and diploma in graphic design.
Through the roleplaying game "Das Schwarze Auge" I was introduced to the world of games at the age of 15.
During my time of study I already did editorial freelance work for Schmidt Spiel & Freizeit GmbH for 11 years.
1998: Internship at Zoch GmbH as freelance graphic designer and editor.
2001 - early 2004: Graphic designer at the packaging agency Solutions in Munich.
Since 2004: Art director for graphics and product development at Zoch GmbH.
Hobbies:
Reading, writing, roleplaying games, board games, (game) world design, dramaturgy, movies, science, language, mountain climbing, swimming, cycling.
Games I would take with me to a remote island:
My roleplaying world, Puerto Rico, Arkham Horror, Manila and Bausack (the game pieces can definitely be made into survival tools).
My homepage:
How and where do I get my best ideas and inspirations?
From nature, while hiking, while playing and while taking a shower.
Who are my favorite artists and idols?
Painters: Caspar David Friedrich, Franz Marc, Lionel Feininger;
Literature: Cornelia Funke, Philip Pullman und J.R.R. Tolkien.
What does excite me in illustrating games?
... the possibility to create a small, manageable world unit, to create an atmosphere a player can feel embedded in, that helps him to develop and dive into the little, exciting thoughts and experiences during game-play.
