Da ist der Wurm drin

Da ist der Wurm drin turns a worm race into a vivid garden scene where coloured sections slip into the game board, peek out again and push onward to the compost heap. For 2 to 4 players aged 4 and up, the changing visible lengths make every move easy to read while giving the race a playful underground twist. Designed by Carmen Kleinert, this children's game builds its central idea around handling and estimating lengths rather than around complex rules. The rectangular board shows winding soil tracks, while coloured worm pieces create a tactile way to judge progress as more or less of each worm can be seen above ground. A white die with coloured dots keeps turns clear and quick to follow. The award Kinderspiel des Jahres 2011, the German critics' prize for children's board games, recognises Da ist der Wurm drin for approachable play that connects movement, observation and competition. On the table, the garden artwork with flowers, stones and underground tunnels gives the race a strong visual identity, and the disappearing worms keep attention focused from turn to turn. A round can be set up in 15–20 minutes, then the compost heap becomes the target as players compare what is visible, watch for reappearing sections and track the lead across the board.
